Join us for a talk exploring the remarkable diversity of Alberta’s native bees and their vital role in healthy ecosystems and food systems. Learn what native bees are and what they look like, how they differ from honey bees, their life cycles and nesting habits, and how they survive Alberta’s climate. We’ll talk about conservation challenges, reasons for decline, and why bee diversity matters - and, most importantly, how you can support native bees in your community!

Join Vicki and Erin to explore the John E. Poole Wetlands and see many species of nesting and migratory birds. From beginner to advanced birders, all are welcome. The walk is primarily on gravel, with a portion of wooden boardwalk. There are restrooms on site.

If you are interested in cultivating a native plant garden, this session is for you! Manna Parseyan has extensive knowledge about native plants, and will share her expertise, along with lovely photos of her own garden. Her motto is to "garden as if life depends on it!" Learn how to incorporate native plants into your yard and enhance your backyard bird habitat. There will be an opportunity for questions after the talk.
